I have been in the fine jewelry business for eighteen years. My passion for this field happened by accident; I started my career with Costco Wholesale in the warehouse and then moved to the buying office where I began my work with jewelry and watches. What started as just a job has become a lifelong passion. I currently serve as CEO for Diamond Wave, who have been in the wholesale diamond and jewelry manufacturing business for over 70 years.
During my 16 years in the jewelry area I was responsible for making styles in all categories, including certified diamonds (GIA and AGS), precious and semi-precious gemstones, gold, and pearls. As I grew with the company I began to learn from some of the most amazing jewelers and manufacturers in the industry. Basically I was taught by people who have been in the industry for 50 or more years. I guess you could say it was “hands on training”.
While at Costco I started the “Special Order Diamond Program”. After 6 years of hard work promoting the program it generated 32 million dollars in fiscal 2005. I also helped direct a Loose Stone Diamond “road show” in 13 warehouses nationwide for one-and-a-half years, generating an average of $350,000 in sales per 3 day event. My buying style was compared to Tiffany’s in terms of standards and quality. I can't take all the credit for these great accomplishments — if it wasn't for the wonderful staff that helped me every day none of this would have ever happened. During my 16 years at Costco I developed long term relationships with customers all over the country. I also developed lasting relationships with nationwide manufacturers and some of the largest sight holders in the industry.
When I made the decision to leave Costco I began my e-commerce career at Amazon.com and was responsible for the inventory, planning, and styling of all diamond, gemstone, pearl, gold, and designer jewelry . I am able to plan inventory for a specific assortment of sku’s and dollars, and I excel at setting stringent standards for QC departments.
In the last few years I have made forays into business jewelry consulting. I am very active in the jewelry industry. I attend all major jewelry shows and would like nothing better than to continue sharing my expertise in order to help businesses grow and better themselves.
